Yahoo Providing Unlimited Storage!
By Arnab on May 18, 2007 in Internet
I just found out that Yahoo! is providing unlimited storage for its users. It’s interesting because when Yahoo started it used to provide only 4 MB of storage and it increased to 100 MB and then to 1 GB. I would say this huge burst of storage by various email websties was because of Google. When google was offering 1 GB the other sites were still walking with 4/5 MB. Anyways, let’s get practical no one is going to use 1000s of GB for email. If they are then obviously they are doing something fishy. However, other than seeing the amount of storage people are using, is there a better way to figure out the illegal use of the site?
As Techie Blog points out, how can we make sure that people are not taking advantage of the situation. It can be used to share illegal softwares and others. Yahoo can however restrict the limit of attachment size but that will not solve the problem because you can break down the files into smaller segments.
