MSN vs Yahoo Messenger!

Instant messaging has become an important part of internet time for us. We use countless hours in these places to communicate with people. MSN messenger receives a bit more popularity as this messenger used to come with the popular operating system. Yahoo, on the other hand, gained popularity because of faster and better services. Previously, the conference or group chat system that MSN had could only allow around 4 people because if you go beyond that point, it used to cause problems. However, Yahoo! offered a much better approach and I remember chatting with more than 10 people in Yahoo! without much problem. There are also claims that MSN was a bit more open to viruses but not Yahoo! This in a way makes sense because MSN had more users and so the creators of these viruses would focus more time on MSN than on Yahoo!
I have also found that Yahoo! is a bit more popular with the people outside of North America and Europe. The reason for that would be I think the fast speed that Yahoo! used to provide. MSN was very slow and even slower with dial-up internet.
Recently we have found MSN and Yahoo working together and many features of Yahoo started to appear in MSN. For instance, the new “Appear Offline” option of MSN came from Yahoo’s “invisible” option. Now-a-days, it seems like all the features of MSN are available in Yahoo and vice-versa but with just different names. People can now also chat with Yahoo contacts using MSN and MSN contacts using Yahoo!. Nevertheless, when you are chatting this way, not all features are provided to you.
Therefore, at this point, the it is hard to point out the better one. I think MSN has a larger user base at this point and so you can reach more people through MSN than Yahoo! Hence, we see more people using MSN. Therefore, the choice would come down to the flexibility of individuals. That’s exactly what we are observing now.

I love msn, but i dont use it Becouse it dosent offer, Contacts sync, i want to aalways be eable,to add a contact in outlook or, wherever and with one button (sync) to add it automaticaly in bouth directions. conclusion; yahoo offers that, and thats why i choosse yahoo mesanger

I think Yahoo Messenger it’s better because it have the avatar system, the “fast-link” email access and it’s more stable, simple & compact than MSN Messenger … + compact browser email system…

From my modest opinion; yahoo messenger much better than MSN; the tow company make new feature and performance to the user, but I can see the updates to Microsoft MSN still confined on the smiles and color and the update of the MSN system depends on the virtual graphical user interface; the core system of MSN still weak, and after all of that it’s not the big deals in GUI, the only MSN advantage that the MSN running on Microsoft environment and kernel.
On other side in yahoo messenger, the yahoo 9 series feature and performance increase rapidly, voice and video chatting sending files and even the stile and emotion and forced the picture link and videos to run inside the messenger and…. Etc even the voices!!!
Compare with MSN, plug-in and spicily the radio and massage archive and group set and online offline option, block ignore its make a big deferent.
Even the mail site for hotmail, Live, against yahoo new mail… there is no compression!!!!

I THINK MSN IS THE BEST AS IT IS FASTEST AND HAS A OPTION TO HAVE UR OWN PIC AS AVTAR.
YAHOO IS SLOW, MESSAGES SOMETIMES DONT GET IN AND IS FULL OF SPAMS,

I think msn is better, cause i think the overall look of msn is cool, and we are able to personalize skins and ect. Whereas yahoo, i dont think its as great as msn.

What about if 95,5% of the pepole with a PC and internet access in your contry use Yahoo!Messenger on PC, Notebook, Mobile phone, Iphone, PDA, etc.
(for example: Romenia) In Romania each person that I know have AT LEAST ONE email adress from Yahoo! (bla_bla_bla@yahoo.com) and use Yahoo!Messenger to comunicate with friends over internet, webcam, send files, emoticons, enviroments and more. This is the situation in Romaniania after 2005. If you want to use WindowsLive Messenger you can’t because everyone will hate you, and you are in big trouble: pepole aroud may even kill you if you don’t change back to Yahoo!Messenger, that is like a tradition in this country, each person recives a yahoo ID at the age of 10th.
