I never tried out the Microsoft World’s blog posting features. I always post from the WordPress WYSIWYG. I know a lot of people type up their posts in Microsoft Word because they like the spell check features and many others. I am personally not a big fan of Microsoft Word for creating online contents. The reason is because a lot of the characters that the word includes do not appear with a lot of older browsers. I do not want to take the risk of assuming that all my visitors are using latest IE. Most of the developers (including me) are actually still using the IE 6.0 simply because this version has a bigger market than 7.0. People just don’t seem to want to upgrade to 7.0 yet even though it’s out for a long time. Anyways, I try to make sure that all my visitors get the best user experience as much as possible. Therefore, I do not use it.

Today, however I decided to give this a try. Currently, I am typing this post my in Microsoft Word 2007. After I am done I will click on publish to publish it to my blog. This is just a test run to see how it goes. I know that many established people in blogs strongly recommend to type up our posts in Word before posting. I would rather suggest using something like Frontpage to type your posts up. Frontpage also uses the same spell check but it won’t insert the stupid characters that mess up display in older browsers and emails.

Better, why not give Google Docs a try? They have a decent spell check and you can just copy and paste your posts after you are done editing. This one automatically saves your information and therefore, while you are outside with an internet connection you can easily type it up.

There are lots of options you have. I would definitely suggest using a spell check no matter what. If you are using Firefox browser then it automatically includes one. It might actually be better to type up in MSWord if you don’t have any other options. However, look for characters that cause issues. Anything that is “curvy” like the quotation mark I used around the word “curvy” could cause issues in older browsers. There are other characters such as “ellipses” or” apostrophe.” Watch out for them and you will be fine.

This post of mine would sound very ugly to many of you guys especially the ones just starting to blog for this very purpose. I do not blame you guys because I can totally understand how you guys would feel. However, I would suggest people to think very hard before taking a decision.

A lot of people out there blogging with their hearts off thinking of making some good cash. To tell you the truth, you can’t make good cash out of blogging. When I look at my money I think of the amount of investments that I have put in to acquire the cash in hand. Well, the amount of effort you will put into blogging compared to the little bit of cash that you will get is not worth it. Put that effort into getting a job and you will make a way more money. Do you now think the same way?

Do not get me wrong. People do make money online but not just from blogging. Including this site I have 7 websites and I usually make 700-800 per month although last month I did cross the 1000 mark but it will go down again. It’s not that much as I make a way more from my job. However, the thing is that this 700-800 bucks come from almost no effort whatsoever.

There are a few blogs however that make a little better money than others. These are the celebrity blogs with pictures of female actresses. They are sort of appealing sexuality while not being totally adult. Adult sites are not allowed in AdSense and therefore, no nude pictures just some random hot pictures of some girls. Go down a couple of posts you will see a post of mine titled “Linux is Sexy” Think of a blog full of these pictures. Obviously I was not trying to achieve that purpose I just found it was a bit humorous. To my surprise the comments of that post were people asking for more sexy pictures. The whole purpose was destroyed. I wonder if people started thinking of Ubuntu or linux sexy after looking at that picture. Hopefully they are.

Anyways, to the people, who are running those “sexy” blogs for money I have to tell them that the demand of pictures is going down. It’s the era of videos now. People into adult want to see videos and nudity. Therefore, if you are running a blog with girls wearing revealing clothes it will appeal to a few people but unless she takes off her clothes a vast majority of the people will not give a shit. If you have nudity you cannot use AdSense, BidVertiser, and many others.

Instead of running a blog and thinking about becoming a millionaire I would suggest to think of a business idea. You can make money from home. Start an internet e commerce business. Start with affiliation. There are quite a bit of money there. Trust me with this. Therefore, you need some real planning. Just posting a couple of messages everyday or more will not get you anywhere. Business is not that easy. A successful business model require lots of dedications and effort. You will have to team up with someone and start doing something. Blogging is easy. Anyone can blog. Even a loser like me can blog. Therefore, you cannot expect that your blog will get you the 6 figure that you are looking for while the blogs of million others won’t.

Some people will argue with me saying that there are people, who are earning six figures. Well, they might be. However, look into their site. They don’t just blog. They do other things on the side. They have affiliate business, they are part of partnerships and people like John Chow part of various scams like “Agloco.” My next post will be about him. He is certainly great but he is too much into making money that he is giving up his integrity in many ways.

I do not blog for money. At a point last year I did try payperpost just to see if it’s worth it. I made a bit more than $100. However, I realized within one month that it wasn’t because I would start hating blogging if I did that only for money. Now I just blog for fun. When someone reads my posts it’s the biggest pleasure I ever get. It’s kind of like a hobby to me. When I used to blog for money I really did a bad job as my blog was getting full of sponsored posts and ads. Now it looks nice and clean.

I would encourage everyone to blog. It’s a really good experience and in the modern world it looks good in your resume even if you are looking for a career in Information Technology. However, please do not waste your time blogging thinking of making lots of money. When you don’t make the amount of money you initially thought you would loose interest on your blog. Unleash the creativity inside with your blog. I know that every person is creative. Blogs give you that opportunity to show the world how creative you are.

It was just my opinion however. What do you guys think? Do you guys think you can make lots of money JUST by blogging? If yes, then what’s your business model?

There you go. I got a new look for my blog. I like the professional look of this blog and also the functionalities. The previous theme that I used for sometime was a nice one. It was a theme made for news oriented site. Mine obviously isn’t. I here talk about whatever I feel like talking as you have seen. I touch on topics on basically everything.

The features here I didn’t change much. I increased the number of recent comments shown in the frontpage. The reason is because I find that it’s important for me to show the appreciation to the people, who are taking the time to post here. I find I am obliged to promote their comments. Therefore, I decided to take that action.

I will also slowly reveal a lot of personal information about me through this blog. That’s because I want to destroy the level of secrecy that I have been carrying around for a long time. Maybe you can try my “About” page as I have already made some good changes their revealing a little bit about myself. I think it’s important for my readers to know who am I before they decide if there is any real value to my bickering.

Therefore, just carry on with your life. Your help would always be extremely appreciated here.
